Ohenro

Ohenro is Joshua Woodcock's second feature film and his first Japanese-language drama. Inspired by themes of family, memory, forgiveness, and personal transformation, the film follows a family confronting unresolved emotions while embarking on a journey that challenges their understanding of themselves and one another.

Written and directed by Woodcock, Ohenro continues many of the themes explored in his debut feature, One Night in Tokyo, while expanding into a larger and more emotionally complex story. Drawing upon Joshua's years living in Japan and his continued connection to the country, the film was created with a focus on authentic performances, cultural specificity, and universal emotional experiences.

The film stars Rome Kanda, Mari Banno, Hitomi Kuroki, and Ahn Mika. Produced by Sean Patrick Burke and Andrew Cantella, the project was developed as a collaboration between filmmakers in the United States and Japan.

Filmed on location in Japan with a predominantly Japanese cast and crew, Ohenro reflects Joshua's ongoing interest in stories that bridge cultures while remaining grounded in deeply human experiences. The film is currently targeting its festival launch and release following completion of post-production.
